OCAP:
In a 7-0 decision, the Supreme Court of Canada ruled on Aril 24 that Ontario residents should be allowed to know how many of the province’s 7,400 registered sex offenders live near them. The court dismissed an Ontario Ministry of the Attorney General (MAG) appeal of a Ruling by the Information and Privacy Commissioner for Ontario that the Ministry can and should release general area locator information (i.e., the first three digits of an OSOR registrant’s postal code) to a Freedom of Information (FOI) requestor.
